Simplified Task Creation and Editing

One of the key projects I was responsible for at Mydoh, was simplifying task creation and editing. Tasks are a core part of the application. It allows parents to delegate responsibilities and kids to earn money, which they later access on the Mydoh card.

What changed?

The redesign allowed for all the details during the task creation to live on the same screen. This made the creation of a task faster, as there are fewer steps. Users were also able to see all the details, like amount earned, description etc. in one screen meaning that they didn't have to remember all the information inputted on each individual screen separately.

User Research and Strategy

A large part of the work I did at Mydoh was user interviews and usability testing. The user interviews were primarily to understand the motivations and concerns of parents as they utilized the Mydoh application. How do Parents delegate responsibilities to their kids? How do Parents organize their tasks and how do Kids access their tasks? These questions helped us plan for the larger strategy at Mydoh and create better hierarchy of operations for the application. While understanding the end user of our application. This is important as Mydoh is a tool that parents utilize extensively to teach their kids about money management and earning money. Through usability testing, we were also able to uncover larger usability problems, which we would tackle in an iterative process to improve the application.

Mydoh by Me

For just $6.99, your kids can put their favourite image on the Mydoh by Me Smart Cash card. This feature allowed kids to create a card that was unique for them. Setting Mydoh apart from any other kids smart card in Canada. As the designer on the project. I worked with an external party to understand how the card customization SDK would work with the existing Mydoh mobile application. As this was a revenue generating feature, the sales and marketing of the feature was very important. The discoverability of the feature in the product was equally as important to the success of the feature.
